5. Linear Echos




                 Watercolor paint, watercolor paper, 17”x17.5” (2022)

I was initially struck by this scene while visiting the Whitney Museum in NYC. The combination of linear shadows broken up by the figure in the striped shirt and the interior structures of the stairwell piqued my interest. Thus, I decided to recreate it in grayscale with watercolor. Through this, I emphasized the abstractions created by the shadows and the light spilling in from the window.
